It's the Car-yest crossover you can buy along side the...actually I can't think of any other crossover that isn't trying too hard to be a truck. You can get it in AWD and 350HP for some reason. These push my 'wagon want' buttons the same as the genuine article. Honestly, If I had a family or the need for a super-spacious wagon thing, this in Ecoboost trim would be an easy second place choice, right behind a manual CTS-V.

My friend's dad has one (not the 350hp awd one lol) and it's only alright. Apparently it drives like a wet dog

I wish they would make a more rugged, tall sitting, two door version. and maybe call it the Bronco. A non truck based Bronco would be blasphemy, but so is a non truck based Explorer and it's probably the closest we could ever get to a Bronco revival. Hmm... I think I might Photoshop that...

I agree, these appear to be the most practical of the modern big crossovers. Tons of room, and it doesn't pretend to be an off roader (lookin at you Explorer, Expedition).

I haven't driven one, but if the wheel communicates like the Fusion (Not handle, communicates) then I see a great idea even if I am not its demographic.

I always loved the Flex, especially the option of 350hp and AWD, but then I drove one (AWD 3.5 N/A) and I just don't feel right in it.

The Ecoboost Flex hauls ass. Put a tune on it and it'll outrun a Mustang GT in the 1/4 mile. It's not a sports car, or even a sports crossover by BMW or Porsche standards, but it's got some balls. And by balls I mean turbos.

I have a Flex. It's awesome. In the AWD version, it handles pretty well. definitely punches above its weight in most categories.

My mom's DD is an EcoBoost AWD Flex, it very much reminds me of the 70's station wagons with the big block V8s in them. It's got cushy seats, cushy ride, and LOTS of power. My family lives in Colorado so N/A motors are down anywhere from 15-20% on power just because of the altitude, but those turbos make all the difference in the world. It'll outrun most anything that rolls up to the stoplight, and the AWD makes sure the power gets to the ground too. Needless to say, It's my favorite grocery getter available on the market that's made by one of the Big Three.

One day in the future when I have $50-80k to drop on a project, I want to take a Flex, and give it a GT500 drivetrain. 662hp supercharged rwd V8, but keep the stock appearance.

My dad considered this, the Edge and Taurus X a few years back. He went with the Taurus X because my step-mom felt the Flex was too big for her to drive and park in the city.

I'm torn on it. I LOVE wagons, but the Flex isn't quite a wagon, or an SUV, or a cross-over. I love the slab-sided look, but I think it's overall size and heft would mean that it doesn't handle very well.

TBSS was 400hp and AWD. Just sayin, it's nothing really "new". I think it's awesome they offer it at all!

I had one, presumably a V6, as a rental last year....put a good 600 miles on it and really like the beast. A lot. Drives very very well, eats up the highway miles and is freaking huge inside. It's big outside too...but no matter. Me gusta. A lot.

I have a 2013 Flex Titanium and I love it! I bought it BECAUSE it has a crap-load of space for the kids and I will NOT have a minivan. We also have a 2013 Chevy Traverse equally equipped, which is a total lumbering dinosaur comparatively. My Flex destroys in as far as gas mileage, handling, ride and acceleration. I would trade in the Traverse for another Flex today if we could.

I love these things, mainly with the turbo. I'm currently working on convincing the wife that these are the ultimate family haulers because you can get one with 2 middle seats so you can walk through to the third row.

It's not going well so far, but I think I have a few years to wear her down.

Not without serious mods but neither will a Mustang. With a tune and exhaust a Flex will run high 12s.

I haven't looked into it but will it really outrun a Mustang GT in the quarter? That's ridiculous!

I have an SHO with the same motor, after a tune it will run with a 5.0 in the quarter, so I think on a Flex you'd need to do a few more mods due to the extra weight, but they are none-the-less very impressive after a tune.

I just looked at the numbers- it appears a GT will do it in 12.7 seconds according to MT, and I've seen videos of Flexs do it in 12.x seconds. Probably not outrunning, but the rwd Mustang is playing catch up the whole time.

Still, a 12 second family hauler that will give a muscle car a run for its money would be at the top of my list for people movers. (under $100k)

Your average 5.0 A6 GT can run into the 11's in cool air with a basic mods and a good launch. The M6 cars unfortunately require a bit more talent. I've seen one Boss one time hit 11's with slicks and cold air and any GT500 with a tune and a pulley can get into the 11s well driven .

That would be pretty neat seeing a Flex haul ass at the track though, would be like seeing that turbocharged Chrysler minivan hauling ass down the strip (against a Camaro IIRC - funny vid).

Why the fuck would you buy an automatic Mustang unless you're an amputee?

And I'm talking about the GT, not the Boss and definitely not the fucking GT500. I don't care what a modified Boss on slicks can run at the track, that's irrelevant. I'm talking about the Flex EB, with a tune, keeping up against a stock Mustang GT.

I don't know maybe they want to hold a beer in one hand steering wheel in the other while making consistent passes down the quarter?

The other reason being an A6 GT is the quickest Mustang GT you can get outside of the SE's as they are marginally quicker than an expertly shifted M6 Mustang.
